Naked Bake & Naked Cake Protein Blends by Naked Nutrition

Does anyone else remember a few years ago when Instagram fitness influencers started becoming a “thing?”

And do you remember how the bodybuilders in particular went on a rampage with their protein powders, sharing all the unique ways they were making sweet treats into muscle-building meals?

I sure do. That’s the fitness world I first became intrigued with, way before this website even came around.

If you saw those trends, you remember a few things:

  1. “Pop Tart Gains” was a real trend the macro-counting types would brag about

  2. #PancakeSunday was a trending hashtag with bodybuilders

  3. Everyone was trying to see how much they could deck out a “mug cake” and still stay on their diet plan

Now, I realize this isn’t familiar to you if you didn’t see this wild time on the internet, from like…2012 – 2016.

However.

The key takeaways here are that protein pancakes and “mug cakes” were HUGE in the fitness world for curbing a sweet tooth.

And for many of us, they still are. I just think we stopped bragging about the toppings as much. ;)

So, I’m extra stoked about today’s new product reviews. You’ve seen these guys around here before.

And like they did with their protein cookies, Naked Nutrition is here to change the game when it comes to innovative protein powder mixes.

Let’s dive into it.

Naked Bake by Naked Nutrition

Naked Bake is a new protein powder blend that’s made to be enjoyed either as a classic protein shake (that’s pumpkin bread flavored!) or as a baking base.

Like I mentioned at the top oof this, many people have been making “mug cakes” – single-serve cupcakes cooked in the microwave, literally in a mug – for themselves for a while.

However, most protein powders don’t have the intent of being baked, so using just a standard whey protein for your mug cake requires a few extra ingredients.

Typically, it’s something like:

  • 1 serving of protein powder

  • 1 egg

  • 1 Tbsp of some sort of flour

  • Some amount of liquid

  • A banana

  • Any sweeteners that you want

That’s pretty simple, yes. And for 2012, it was groundbreaking to find out that we could make singular cupcakes using mugs in our microwave.

But we’re in 2022, bay-by! And Naked Nutrition has not only created a delicious and easy product off the back of this trend, but they’ve also proven that they know the fitness world deeply.

That might sound sentimental or cheesy, but it’s true. Not all companies actually know what the people are into.

The Naked Bake blend by Naked Nutrition has cut down the classic mug cake into just 2 ingredients:

  1. Naked Bake powder

  2. Water

And you know what? The texture turns out great, the taste is what you want it to be, and it’s done in under 2 minutes.

Naked Bake is a delicious way to switch up your protein intake & satisfy that craving for some fall flavors.

And the convenience of it all takes everything to a new level.

If you want the flavors of fall in an easy-to-bake, high-protein treat – try out Naked Bake ASAP this fall!

Naked Cake by Naked Nutrition

Naked Cake is where “pancake Sunday” is coming back to life, bay-by, and I’m here for it!

I used to make all sorts of wild pancake recipes just because I wanted to see how creative I could get, and brag about it on Instagram with all the others enjoying this funny little weekend tradition.

Now, I’ve calmed down a bit…but I love a good reason to enjoy some every now and again.

With Naked Cake, I don’t even need to put the effort into being creative with the batter.

The directions here, yet again, are just to add water to a serving of the Naked Cake mix + pour them onto a hot skillet!

When I tell you I was SHOOK that this stuff cooks just like regular pancakes…wow.

NO protein pancakes I ever came up with on my own quite hit that same texture.

And Naked Nutrition nailed that, too.

The flavor is a subtle sweetness that’s perfect for topping with whatever flavors you want once the pancake is done.

One serving gets you 3-4 good-sized pancakes.

I can keep going, but you get it. These rule just like the Naked Bake mix, and are just as easy to use with zero cooking skill.

If you’re a breakfast person, definitely get your hands on some Naked Cake. Healthy pancakes have never been easier or tastier.

Naked Cake Ingredients

Protein blend (Whey protein isolate, milk protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, egg white powder), cassava flour, tigernut flour, potato starch, coconut sugar, MCT oil from coconut (medium chain triglycerides from coconut oil, acacia), baking powder (sodium acid pyrophosphate, corn starch, calcium phosphate), sunflower lecithin, sodium bicarbonate, natural flavor, sea salt, fermented cane sugar (Reb-M).

Is whey protein healthy?

Now, you probably noticed that these products are not vegan.

Many other Naked Nutrition products are, so if you prefer that lifestyle, I apologize on this one.

A lot of people ask me whether whey protein is good or not.

The short answer is the same I give most of the time: it depends.

If you don’t have allergic or intolerant reactions to whey, it can be highly beneficial for you.

It’s one of the fastest-absorbed proteins the body can handle and is easily shuffled into the muscles to help them rebuild after a workout.

This fast break down and use of whey in the body is why it’s been a top pick for bodybuilders for decades now.

However, many people who think they have a lactose intolerance could really be experiencing a whey intolerance – or vice versa.

If you only know that you “can’t tolerate dairy,” you’ll need to dig a little deeper to find out your specific intolerance.

There are 3 compounds people typically react poorly to in dairy:

  • Whey

  • Casein

  • Lactose

The first two are proteins. The third is a sugar.

Each serves a unique function in the body, and each can have its own intolerance. Different dairy products also have different ratios of these molecules in them, depending on how the milk product is processed.

If you’re not sure whether you can tolerate whey, I’ve got a great blog about the different types of protein in milk-derived options…and how to tell which one might be giving you trouble.

Give it a read if you’re still trying to figure this stuff out for yourself.

Final thoughts

As for Naked Nutrition, I’m obsessed with this company and excited about these new products.

I really did eat those pancakes for lunch after I filmed the video review above.

So long as you can handle whey and egg proteins, both Naked Bake and Naked Cake get a huge green light from me.

I highly recommend you try these out. They satisfy your hunger, your sweet tooth, your “fun meal” cravings and are great for helping you stick to your long-term health goals!
